Weather

It stormed today. Messed up the phones, huge tennis ball hail all around, but not here. As the storm rolled by tonight, it made me think.

Can you even imagine what the early settlers to the midwest thought about their first tornado? We grow up with it and while it's devastating, it's not unknown or unseen. But can you imagine coming from say, France, to the US and trekking cross country to parts unexplored and watching the sky unleash like it does?

Just think about how mind blowing that would be. Weird natives, grass taller than your head then these storms come out of nowhere and unleash like they do here.

Crazy.

Baby Mac

My child is a baby mac daddy. Decker, not Logan. I had to visit the lunch room today and clean off the popcorn machine. Decker was eating lunch, but unlike other times he wasn't alone at one end of the table. He was sitting in the middle of the lunch room table SURROUNDED by the girls in his class. I've never seen such a packed table. I swear there were about 20 girls sitting with him. I can hear my hair going grey. Soon it won't be as innocent and I'll have to deal with girl drama. But for now, he's just the mac daddy jr.

Heaven help me.

I'm old according to my children

Arina asked this evening if I was born in 2000. I replied, "No, I was born in 1973."
"Oh," she said.
Logan pipes up from his drawing, "Gosh, that's WAY before the Titanic!"

So, today, I'm old.
There is something soothing about yard work. I've spent most of the evening since school got out at 3:30 outside. I weeded, (I don't remember there being so many dandelions last year), dug out the hostas in the front flowerbed, planted hyachinths in their place, mowed and cleaned out the garage. I love the feeling of looking across the freshley mown lawn (even though the bermuda grass is still brownish) and seeing everything in it's place.
Now though, I'm thinking about things like fertilizer for the lawn and how I would love a leaf blower or how exciting a gas powered weedeater is. I can't wait until school is out then I can dig out the hostas in the back yard and plant my climbing roses and all the bulbs I have in the garage.

Now it's just the back yard to weed and mow, but that will have to wait.

Presents and Good Friday.

In this case, the two have nothing to do with each other.

Friday, Logan was a complete stinker. He ended up getting in tons of trouble over stupid things. On the way home from Wichita, he said, "This Friday hasn't been good for me at all."

Decker pipes up and says, "It's been good for me!"

They make me laugh, silly kids.

On another note, I have finally decided what to get for Sarah for her birthday and completion of her testing! But since she reads the blog too, I can't share with everyone. Of course, if it's just killing you, check out www.nycpeach.com and you'll be able to figure it out. And no, I'm not buying it, I'm simply borrowing their idea. Can you honestly think of a better idea for her present?

Spring break was too short.

This is my quickie entry so Sarah doesn't put me in her unbloggable column on her blog. Neh!
